BRYANT WOMEN'S LACROSSE DEFEATS SAINT ANSLEM, 18-10

SMITHFIELD, RI --  Lauren Carlisle scored five goals while Marisa Lawrence added four to lead the Bryant women's lacrosse team to an 18-10 win over Saint Anselm in quarterfinal action of the 2005 Northeast-10 Conference Women's Lacrosse tournament Wednesday at Bulldog Stadium.  The Bulldogs will advance to the semifinals this Saturday where they will face second-seeded Merrimack College.  The game will be played on the campus of Stonehill College at 3:30 p.m. with the winner advancing to the championship game Sunday.

     On Wednesday against Saint Anselm, Bryant's Caitlin Hansen broke a 2-2 tie with an unassisted goal midway through the first half, giving Bryant a 3-2 advantage.  Second later, the Bulldogs added another goal and never looked back.

     Following a draw control win by Lynn Zoltowski, the Bulldogs made it 4-2, 14 seconds later as Liz Moore took a pass from Hansen and beat Hawk goalie Sandra Landry with a high shot.  Moore would finish with two goals in the game.

     Leading 7-4 at the half, the Bulldogs would tack on 11 more goals in the second half en route to the win.  Samantha Libby made four saves in goal for the Bulldogs while Landry had 14 saves on 32 shots.  Hansen and Michelle Lewis each had seven ground balls while Zoltowski added six. 

      Melissa Jubinville and Lauren Glancy each had three goals for Saint Anselm while Jillian Colonese had two.
