BRYANT WOMEN'S LACROSSE DEFEATS SAINT
ANSELM 18-10
Bulldogs Advance To NE-10 Tourney Semifinals
Saturday
- Northeast-10 Conference Quarterfinals
-
SMITHFIELD, RI -
Marisa Lawrence (Falmouth,
Mass.) scored four goals and added five assists to help
lead the Bryant University women's lacrosse team to an 18-10 win
over Saint Anselm College in a Northeast-10 Conference quarterfinal
round game on a rainy afternoon at the Bryant Turf Field. The
win moves Bryant (11-4) into the Northeast-10 Conference semifinals
where the third-seeded Bulldogs will face No. 2 seed Merrimack
College this Saturday in Easton, Mass.
Bryant led 3-2 early following a free position goal from junior Shaun Leddy (Sea Girt, NJ), but the Hawks would not go away as Lauren Glancy found Michaela Rocha for a goal to tie the game back up at 3-3.
With the Bulldogs holding onto a 5-4 lead, Lauren Carlisle (San Diego, Calif.) scored the first of eight-straight goals minutes later as Bryant took a 13-4 lead into the half.
Colleen Sheehan would score nine minutes into the second stanza for Saint Anselm (7-8-1), but that would be as close as the visitors would get as Lawrence added two second-half goals and added another assist on a Carlisle goal as the Bulldogs advanced to the conference semifinals for the third-straight year.
Rocha and Jillian Colonese each finished with a pair of goals for Saint Anselm. Caitlin Hansen (Spring Lake, NJ) found the back of the net for four goals for the Bulldogs while freshman Delia Glover (Marston Mills, Mass.) and Carlisle each finished with three scores.
