WOMEN'S LACROSSE HOSTS MERRIMACK WEDNESDAY AT 4 PM AT TURF FIELD

SMITHFIELD, RI - The Bulldogs host Merrimack College Wednesday afternoon in a quarterfinal matchup of the 2007 Northeast-10 Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship.  The Bulldogs are the No. 4 seed of the tournament with Merrimack the No. 5 seed.  The winner of today's game will face top-seed Stonehill in the semifinals on Saturday in Easton, Mass.

THE BULLDOGS
The Bulldogs will look to bounce back from Saturday's 24-12 loss to Adelphi this afternoon against a Warriors team that the Bulldogs faced less than a week ago.  In the game, played at the Bryant Turf Complex, the Bulldogs got a goal from Caitlin Hansen with under a minute left to force overtime and Shaun Leddy scored the game-winner with just 16 seconds left in the third overtime period to lift the Bulldogs to a thrilling 16-15 win. Hansen would notch her 100th career goal in Saturday's game vs. Adelphi, scoring four in the contest.  Hansen now has 40 goals on the season while Leddy leads the Bulldogs with 52 total points (34g, 18a).  Lauren Carlisle is next with 33 goals while Delia Glover has 29 goals and a team-best 52 draw controls.

THE WARRIORS
Since last Thursday's loss to Bryant, Merrimack reeled off two conference victories, defeating AIC 20-5 on Saturday and Saint Anselm 23-15 Monday.  Amanda Simeone has a team-best 53 goals this season while Mia Basile is next with 46 goals.  Lauren Leddy, sister of Bryant's Shaun Leddy, is third on the team in scoring with 37 goals and 18 assists.  She also leads the Warriors with 33 draw controls this season. As a team, Merrimack is averaging 16.2 goals per game.
