BRYANT WOMEN'S LACROSSE DEFEATS SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT 21-14 SATURDAY

NEW HAVEN, CT - Allison Faiola (Billerica, MA) and Tamara Bender (Mount Vernon, NH) each scored five goals and senior Caitlin Hansen (Spring Lake, NJ) added four goals to help lead the Bryant University women's lacrosse team to a 21-14 Northeast-10 Conference win at Southern Connecticut State University Saturday afternoon.
Bryant (8-4, 6-2 NE-10) led 16-7 at the half and pulled away with five more goals in the second to earn the win. The Bulldogs raced out quickly in front 6-0 on three goals by Bender in the first eight minutes before Southern Connecticut's Grace Martha got the host Owls on the board with a free position goal at 22:19.
Faiola and Hansen helped the Bulldogs break away late in the half as Faiola scored three goals in the final 12 minutes giving Bryant a comfortable cushion at the break.
Southern Connecticut ( 2-9, 2-5 NE-10) got a goal from Allison Kownacki early in the second half to make it 17-8 but two tallies from Atha and another from Bender late in the sealed the win.
Bryant will travel to the University of New Haven Monday for a non-conference game starting at 4 p.m.
