NO. 10 SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE DOWN BRYANT 23-10 IN WOMEN'S LACROSSE SATURDAY
SMITHFIELD, R.I - Senior Caitlin Hansen (Spring Lake, NJ) and junior Delia Glover (Marston Mills, MA) each scored three goals while Allison Faiola (Billerica, MA) had a pair but it was not enough as tenth-ranked Southern New Hampshire rolled to a 23-10 win over Bryant University Saturday afternoon at the Turf Field Complex.
Bryant (8-6, 6-3 NE-10) got off to a slow start against the Penmen, falling behind 7-0 from the start. But following a timeout, the offense finally awoke as Lauren Albert (South Windsor, CT) put a free position shot past SNHU goalie Katie Clark. The goal helped start a six-goal outburst as the Bulldogs closed to within 9-7 after Faiola scored with 6:53 left to go in the first half.
But Southern NH (9-5, 8-1 NE-10) would finish the half strong, taking an 11-7 lead into the break. In the second half, it was all Penmen as back-to-back goals by Libby Parent made it 15-8 while two more tallies from Laura Rotolo and one from Lucretia Joy made it 19-9.
Southern New Hampshire would take on four more including one from Jami Shugrue with 19 seconds left to close out the win. Parent, Rotolo and Lee all had five goals for the visitors.
Bryant will host Saint Anselm Tuesday night at 7 pm.
