WINTER PARK, FL - The Bryant women's lacrosse team took an 11-3 lead into the locker room at the half and held on to post a 19-11 non-conference victory over host Rollins College Wednesday afternoon. The win, Bryant's second of two spring game trips to the Sunshine State, improves the team's record to 2-1 under first year coach Jessica Davos. Rollins, which scored eight second-half goals, drops to 3-5.
Allison Faiola had a huge game for the Bulldogs offensively, tallying a school record eight goals on the day while adding two assists for a record 10 points. Teammate Lauren Albert chipped in with four goals while co-captain Caitlyn Hansen recorded a hat trick with three goals.
Faiola and Albert got the Bulldogs off to a quick 5-0 start as Faiola scored twice to open the game and added her third goal of the game at 19:57 before Annie Harris got the Tars on the scoreboard with a goal at 17:54.
But Faiola would answer back for the Bulldogs, netting a pair nearly two minutes apart and the Bulldogs were up 7-1.
Rollins would pull to within 15-9 in the second behind a pair of goals from Courtney Bianculli and one from Liz Connelly, but Faiola was there once again for Bryant, scoring another goal with 7:15 on the clock to make it 16-9 and the Bulldogs held on.
Jessica Bolton got the win making nine saves while allowing 11 goals on the day as Bryant out-shot Rollins, 41 to 24. The previous record for goals in a game was six by Melissa Talamini against Bridgewater State in 2003. Talamini also held the record for points in a game with eight, also coming against Bridgewater in '03.
Bryant will have a week off before returning to action next
Wednesday with the Northeast-10 Conference opener at American
International in Springfield, MA.
