Bulldogs Picked Fifth in Preseason Poll; Take One First Place Vote

Smithfield, RI - The Bulldogs begin the 2008 season under new head coach Jess Davos, looking to build on their 8-6 record in 2007.

Perennial power Stonehill College was picked to win an unprecedented 10th consecutive Northeast-10 Regular Season Title. The Skyhawks took 8 of 11 first place votes, to finish ahead of a crowded pack of challengers.
Bentley and Southern New Hampshire finished tied for second with 98 points. The Falcons, under Davos, made a huge leap to 11-6 last year. Following are Merrimack and Bryant who both took a first place vote. The Warriors, coached by former Bryant assistant Corrinne Baker, edged the Bulldogs by one point (87-86).
Saint Michael's and Saint Anselm follow with 65 and 60 points respectively. Rounding out the poll are Southern Connecticut, Assumption, Franklin Pierce and American International.
The Bulldogs kick off their season Friday with a trip to Louisville. Bryant's first home game is March 22 against C.W. Post.
