EAGLES SOAR PAST BRYANT 20-4 IN WOMEN'S LACROSSE OPENER
SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Brooke Blue scored five goals and Kristin Igoe added four tallies plus four assists as visiting Boston College rolled to a 20-4 win over Bryant University in the 2010 season opener for both teams here Saturday.
Igoe netted two quick goals in the first seven minutes to give the visitors a quick 2-0 lead before Bryant would get on the board as sophomore Mary Green scored her first goal of the season to make it 2-1 with 21:52 left.
But from there, it was all BC as the Eagles would score six unanswered goals to take a commanding 8-2 lead late in the first half. Lauren Sheridan would net her first goal of the year with 2:42 left but BC's Jill Rekart scored with 1:51 left before half to give the Eagles a 9-2 lead at the half.
In the second, it was all BC. The Eagles scored six-straight including two from Blue and one from Igoe and the Eagles were never threatened.
Green finished with two goals to lead the Bulldogs. Goalie Lauren Fillipone made five saves in net before giving way to Jessica Bolton midway through the second.
Bryant will travel to Villanova Thursday for a 4:30 pm game. The Eagles host Canisius next Friday at 3 pm.
