Karen Healy heads into the 2012 season as the seventh-year head coach of the Bryant University women's lacrosse team as the Bulldogs prepare for their final season of Division I reclassification before becoming eligible for postseason play in the spring of 2013.

Guided by Coach Healy, the women's lacrosse team made monumental strides in 2011, as the Bulldogs completed the year with an 8-8 overall record, including an impressive 7-2 mark within the Northeast Conference - good for a second-place at the conclusion of the regular season.

Named the head coach in July of 2008, this is Healy’s second stint as the Bulldogs' skipper after spending three seasons at the program’s helm from 2005-07 before leaving after 2007 season to become the head coach at Wagner College. Healy rejoined the Bulldogs in 2008-09 after just one season with the Seahawks.

During her coaching career in Smithfield, Healy has led the Bulldogs to a combined 46-50 overall record in five years, including a trio of winning seasons and a 23-7 mark in the Bulldogs’ Division II Northeast-10 Conference before making the move up to Division I. She then led the Bulldog program into a new era starting with the 2009 season, as the athletic department and the women’s lacrosse team embarked on their inaugural Division I campaign.

The 2010 season would see another Bryant first, as rookie defender Nicole Rettinger was awarded the program's first-ever Northeast Conference postseason accolade, named a first team all-conference selection as well as earning a spot on the NEC All-Rookie Team.

Healy first arrived in Smithfield, R.I. in the spring of 2005 after serving as the Assistant Program Director at MetroLacrosse, Inc., a Boston-based organization that provides free youth lacrosse leagues in Boston's historically underserved communities.

Before joining MetroLacrosse, Healy enjoyed two successful seasons as an assistant coach at UMass Amherst in her first stop on the coaching ladder. During her tenure under head coach Carrie Bolduc, the Minutewomen won 17 games from 2003-04, including an 2003 season that saw UMass go 11-8 and finish as the Atlantic 10 runner-up.

In her 2008 season with Wagner, Healy’s Seahawks went 3-13 with a 3-5 mark within the Northeast Conference.

A 2002 graduate of Syracuse University, Healy enjoyed an outstanding career for the Orange, helping lead her team to three NCAA Championship appearances. A two-time All-American at Syracuse as a freshman and sophomore, she also earned Second Team Big East honors during her senior season.

A native of Freeport, N.Y., where she was a high school All-American, Healy graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Arts in African American Studies.
