Women's Soccer Downs Hawks on Wednesday, 4-2

SMITHFIELD, RI ? The Bryant University women?s soccer team won its home opener Wednesday 4-2, over Northeast-10 Conference foe Saint Anselm in a game played at Bulldog Stadium.

The Bulldogs returned home after playing their first four games on the road and started the scoring off early as senior Christine Kalukiewicz (Littleton, Mass.) found the back of the net with a goal 6:25 into the game. Junior Lisa Bielenin (East Walpole, Mass.)helped set up the score.

The goal would be the only score of the first half as the Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead into the break at the half. Bryant (4-1-0) held a decisive advantage on shots, out-shooting the Hawks seven to one in the first half.

The second half started with a goal for Saint Anselm by Jocelyn Savastano at 47:39. However the Bulldogs would answer with two goals of their own. The first one coming from sophomore Lindsey Meszaros (Fitchburg, Mass.) on an assist from Maddie Bergeron (Westfield, Mass.) at 63:10. Then at 66:51, sophomore Casey Grange (Lawrence, Mass.) put the game winner in the net off an assist by senior Kristen Harmon (Nashua, NH).

Savastano added another goal for the Hawks at 82:20. Bryant responded with one more goal of their own, this time off the foot of freshman Tricia Spada (Conventry, Conn.).

Bryant will travel to Saint Rose on Saturday for a Northeast-10 Conference game at 1:30 p.m.
