Bryant Overcomes Slow Start to Beat Stonehill 2-1

September 17, 2004

SMITHFIELD, RI - The Bryant University women?s soccer team overcame a slow start to beat Stonehill College 2-1 in game played today at Bulldog Stadium.

In a first half predominately played in the midfield Stonehill College managed to jump out to an early 1-0 when Kate McCarthy scored eight minutes into the game. From that point both teams battled back-and-forth in each other?s midfield. Bryant did have a one shot advantage in the half five to four.

The Bulldogs came out with a little more enthusiasm scoring two goals to take home the win. Senior Christine Kalukiewicz (Littleton, Mass.) scored the first goal when she took a feed from freshman Lauren Childers (Franklin, Mass.) and blasted the shot past the Stonehill goalie.

Bryant?s (6-1-1) game winning goal came off the foot of freshman Diane Pascale (Plymouth, Mass.) who also got an assist from Childers to give the Bulldogs the win at 85:13.

Senior goalie Kim Rekart (Ellicott City, MD) got the win in goal for the Bulldogs increasing her record to 6-1-1.

Bryant?s next game will be Wednesday September 22, when they host UMass Lowell at Bulldog Stadium. Game time is set for 4:00pm.
