Bryant Two First Half Goals Outlasts UMass Lowell 2-1

SMITHFIELD, RI - The Bryant University women?s soccer team used two first half goals and some tough defense to beat UMass Lowell 2-1 in game played today at Sutton Field.
Both teams battled in the midfield for the first 20 minutes until Bryant scored at 21:54 mark, when junior Terri Gidius (Coventry, Conn.) scored off an assist from senior Christine Kalukiewicz (Littleton, Mass.) to make the score 1-0.
Bryant (7-1-1) then went on to score their second goal ten minutes later when junior Sara Vienneau (Salem, NH) scored off an assist from freshman Diane Pascale (Plymouth, Mass) in a group of players in front of the net.
Both teams came out playing tough defense in the second half only allowing one goal to be scored. The goal was for UMass Lowell when Laura Donigian took a pass from Courtney Curran and blasted the ball into the net.
From that point the defense?s tightened up to allow no more goals giving Bryant the 2-1 victory.
Senior Kim Rekart (Ellicott City, MD) got win in goal for the Bulldogs taking her record to 7-1-1.
Bryant will return to action Saturday, September 25, when they travel to Assumption. Game time is set for 10:00AM.
