Bryant and Southern New Hampshire Battle to 0-0 Tie

September 30, 2004

MANCHESTER, NH ? The Bryant University women?s soccer team battled Southern New Hampshire University to a 0-0 double overtime tie yesterday in a game played at Dr. George J. Larkin Field on the SNHU campus. The tie takes Bryant?s current unbeaten streak to nine.

The first solid scoring chances of the game did not come until early in the second half. Bryant (8-1-2) nearly broke the scoreless tie five minutes into the second half when sophomore Casey Grange (Methuen, MA) collected a loose ball in the SNHU penalty area and got off a quick shot that was saved by Penmen netminder Jessica Langley. The Bulldogs nearly scored again with 30 minutes left in the second half, but freshman Diane Pascale?s (Plymouth, MA) one-timer from 15 yards out sailed just over the SNHU net.

SNHU?s best scoring chance came with 27 minutes left in the second half. Junior Katie Alexander collected a long crossing pass from senior Liz Wheeler inside the Bryant box, but Bryant goaltender Kim Rekart (Ellicott City, MD) came up with a point-blank save to keep the game scoreless.

Bryant did not take any shots in the overtimes being outshot 4-0 and 12-4 for the match.

Bryant will return to action on Sunday, October 3, when they host Southern Connecticut State. Game time is set for 1:00pm at Bulldog Stadium.
