August 23, 2006

Adding to its preseason top-25 ranking, the Bryant University's Women's Soccer team has been picked to finish fourth in the Northeast-10 Conference, as determined by the 2006 Northeast-10 Women's Soccer Coaches' Preseason Poll.

The Bulldogs, who finished last season 13-6-2, were ranked as high as No. 12 nationally and No. 2 regionally in 2005. Under Coach Chris Flint's direction, the Bulldogs have produced 13 or more wins in the past three seasons, as well as five consecutive winning campaigns, and have cracked the top-25 national poll consistently.

The Ravens of Franklin Pierce College once again are predicted to win the regular season title. The five-time defending Northeast-10 Regular Season and six-time Tournament Champion, garnered 13 first-place votes for a total of 223 points.

Placing second in the poll is Assumption College with 189 points and one first place vote. The Greyhounds edge Merrimack College by only three points to secure the second position. Totaling for 186 points, Merrimack is the third place pick.

Bryant received 177 votes for a fourth-place selection.

The Bulldogs, ranked 25th in the nation, kick off their season tomorrow vs. Caldwell (2 p.m.) and Saturday vs. Dominican (1 p.m.) in the Pace University Tourney.

Bryant's home opener is Sept. 6th against Northeast-10 rival Stonehill.
