SMITHFIELD, RI -- To be the best, you have to train with the best. The Bulldog Soccer Academy is geared towards girls ages 15-18 who want to get to the next level in the game of soccer. BSA is an intense three-and-a-half day residential training camp that will focus on both the technical and tactical part of the game. To ensure quality instruction, enrollment is limited to the first 75 campers. Applications are available now.

Bryant's Danielle Malta Named Scholar All-American
SMITHFIELD, RI - Bryant University women's soccer standout Danielle Malta (Bethel, CT) has been named to the 2007 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) / adidas Women's Soccer Scholar Athlete First Team. A total of 73 student-athletes from all divisions nationally were selected and will be honored at the NSCAA All-America luncheon January 19 in Baltimore, Maryland.

BRYANT WOMEN’S SOCCER FALLS TO FRANKLIN PIERCE, 3-0, IN NCAA NEW ENGLAND REGION SECOND ROUND
SMITHFIELD, RI – The second-seeded Bryant University women’s soccer team saw its season come to an end Sunday afternoon with a 3-0 loss to third-seeded Franklin Pierce in the second round of NCAA New England Regional action. The host Bulldogs outshot the Ravens, 10-9, but sent just five of those on goal. Franklin Pierce found the target in all nine chances, making good on three of them. But it was Bryant’s 11 fouls (to Franklin Pierce’s 12) that were most costly for the Bulldogs Sunday afternoon, as all three goals came off free kicks.

The No. 8 Bryant University women’s soccer team was rewarded for a successful 2007 season with five All-Conference selections and two individual Northeast-10 Conference accolades, as announced by the league after Sunday’s championship game. Junior defender Danielle Malta (Bethel, Conn.) was named the 2007 Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the Year after anchoring a defense that surrendered just 18 goals and recorded 13 shutouts in 23 games this season. One of two All-Conference First Teamers for Bryant, Malta started every game for the Bulldogs, who sit at No. 2 in the latest New England Regional Poll and No. 8 nationally.

ALBANY, NY - It was the Battle of the Unbeatens Sunday afternoon, as undefeated No. 1 Saint Rose hosted undefeated No. 2 Bryant University in the 2007 Northeast-10 Conference Championship. And while the game was tied 1-1 for more than 72 minutes, Saint Rose notched the game-winner with just 3:36 to play, downing Bryant, 2-1.

WOMEN'S SOCCER TOPS PACE, 2-0, IN REGULAR-SEASON FINALE
SMITHFIELD, RI – The No. 8 Bryant University women’s soccer team stays undefeated in its 2007 campaign with a 2-0 win over Pace University in its final Northeast-10 regular-season contest Tuesday afternoon. The victory is the Bulldogs’ 16th of the year and sets a new school single-season wins record. Freshman forward Kim Rich (Lancaster, Mass.) lifted her squad to a 16-0-4 record (11-0-3 NE-10) with a pair of goals, her third and fourth of the season, notching one in each half. Rich’s first goal came in the 28th minute off feeds from Daisy Martinez (Eliot, Maine) and Kristin Fisher (Plymouth, Mass.), while the second score came in the 78th minute, when she connected with a cross to the near post from fellow freshman Megan Vayo (Hanson, Mass.).

NORTH ANDOVER, MA – The ninth-ranked Bryant University women’s soccer team shut out Northeast-10 Conference foe Merrimack College, 1-0 Saturday afternoon on the road at Warrior Field. In the 34th minute, senior Tricia Spada scored the game’s lone goal, blasting a shot into the lower left side of the net past Warrior goalkeeper Shannon Rowan. It was Spada’s team-leading eighth goal of the season, while Brianne Lustenring notched her second assist on the year.

Four women's soccer players earn All-Academic accolades
Four Bryant University women’s soccer players were named to Northeast-10 Conference All-Academic teams, as announced by conference officials this week. Headlining the quartet is goaltender Jessica Clark (Barnstable, Mass.), whose 3.87 GPA earned her the Bulldogs’ only First-Team All-Academic honor. The junior communications major has allowed just one goal in eight appearances for the Bulldogs this season and has made six starts to back her 6-0-2 record. Clark’s five shutouts and 0.13 goals against average contribute to the squad’s success in its 2007 campaign.

All six Bulldog goals came from non-starters in the victory, including two from Daisy Martinez (Eliot, ME). The Bulldogs dominated throughout, out shooting the Yellow Jackets 24-2. #4 Women’s Soccer Receives Highest National Ranking Ever; Ties Bentley 2-2 Tuesday
WALTHAM, MA. – The Bryant women’s soccer team, ranked fourth in the latest Div. II NSCAA Poll, remained unbeaten in 2007, after tying Bentley College 2-2 Tuesday afternoon. After defeating Franklin Pierce, who was ranked fifth nationally, 2-1 last Saturday, the Bulldogs shot up in the national poll, from 26th to 4th overall. This is the highest national ranking in the history of the Bryant women’s soccer program. They are also ranked first in the New England region. The Bulldogs (6-0-1, 3-0-0 NE-10) will take on AIC Thursday night at the Bryant Turf Complex at 7 p.m.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant women’s soccer team remained unbeaten in 2007 after upsetting Franklin Pierce, ranked fifth nationally in Division II, 2-1 Saturday night at the Bryant Turf Complex. Senior tri-captain Tricia Spada (Dedham, MA) tallied the game-winning goal in the 56th minute, booming a shot from 35-yards out to the top-right side of the net past Jenna Mello for the go-ahead goal. Spada, who was last week’s Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week, posted her fifth goal in as many matches. The win capped off a stellar day in Smithfield, as men's soccer defeated Southern N.H. 1-0 Saturday morning, followed by football's win over AIC 13-6. On the road, field hockey defeated Saint Michael's 4-2, while volleyball split a pair of matches at the Bentley Invitational.

The Bulldogs scored three goals in just over six minutes early in the second half to secure their third victory of the season. Freshman Sarah Donovan led the Bulldogs with a goal and an assist. The Bulldogs (3-0-1) will open conference play Wednesday at Stonehill (4 p.m.) before taking on the preseason Northeast-10 favorite Franklin Pierce Saturday (7 p.m.) at the Bryant Turf Complex.

WORCESTER, MA. – The Bryant women’s soccer team, ranked 25th in the nation, rallied for a 1-1 tie Friday afternoon with C.W. Post in the first game of the Garden Inn Friendly at Assumption College. Holly Tyser (Somers, CT) continued her strong start to the season scoring team-leading third goal of the season in the 80th minute to even the score for the Bulldogs. Tyser scored on a sliding kick on a cross feed from tri-captain Tricia Spada (Dedham, MA). The Bulldogs (2-0-1) will take on Georgian Court Sunday at noon in day two of the Garden Inn Friendly in Worcester, MA.

Women's Soccer Scores Four Unanswered Goals in 5-3 Win over Holy Family
PHILADELPHIA, PA. – The Bryant women’s soccer team scored four unanswered goals in the second half, including three in the span of six minutes, as the visiting Bulldogs came from behind to defeat Holy Family 5-3 Tuesday afternoon at Tiger Field. Trailing 3-1 in the 50th minute, sophomore Alex Dipippo (Shelton, CT) scored two goals 1:28 apart to tie the game. Five minutes later, senior tri-captain Tricia Spada (Dedham, MA) put the Bulldogs ahead with the game-winning tally on a penalty kick and gave them insurance when she posted her second of the match in the 86th minute. The Bulldogs (2-0) will take part in the Nike Kick-Off Classic this weekend at Assumption College. They will take on C.W. Post Friday at 4 p.m. and Georgian Court Sunday at noon.

Women's Soccer Wins Season Opener 4-2 over Adelphi
SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant women’s soccer team started its season the right way, defeating Adelphi University 4-2 Sunday afternoon at Bulldog Stadium. Kristin Fisher (Plymouth, MA) and Holly Tyser (Somers, CT) each tallied a goal and an assist, while freshman Megan Vayo (Hanson, MA) notched her first collegiate goal. Junior midfielder Amy Orzechowski (Milford, CT) scored the game’s first goal in the 15th minute, as she took a cross from Tyser and headed it past Panther goaltender Christine Conway. Dating back to last season, Bryant has won six straight home matches and has not lost in Smithfield since Sept. 15, 2006. Bryant (1-0) will visit Holy Family Tuesday at 3 p.m. before taking part in the Assumption Nike Kick-Off Classic next weekend.

SOUTH EASTON, MASS. - After recording a school record 15 wins and advancing to its second career NCAA Tournament, the Bryant Women's Soccer team has been picked to finish fifth in the Northeast-10 Conference, as voted on by the conference's coaches. Led by tri-captains, Diane Pascale, Tricia Spada, and Lauren Childers, the Bulldogs open their season Sunday at Bulldog Stadium against Adelphi at 1 p.m.

Back from a fabulous trip throught Europe, the Bryant women's soccer team returns to Smithfield a closer group with unforgettable experiences. The team spent a week sight-seeing, exploring, and scrimmaging throughout Europe in preparation for its 2007 season which opens Sunday at Bulldog Stadium against Adelphi at 1 p.m.

Women's Soccer Announces Class of 2011
SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The Bryant University women's soccer team welcomes seven newcomers to the squad for the 2007 season. They will have the challenge of replacing the class of 2007, headlined by all-time leading scorer Casey Grange. Chris Flint's squad qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 2006 for the second time in school history and won a record 15 games. The Bulldogs kick-off the 2007 season on August 26th vs Adelphi at Bulldog Stadium at 1 p.m.
