WOMEN'S SOCCER SNAPS LOSING STREAK;  TIE BLACKBEARS, 1-1, SATURDAY

ORONO, ME - An early goal by sophomore midfielder Sarah Donovan (Storrs, Conn.) helped the Bulldogs to a, 1-1, tie against the University of Maine (2-0-4) Saturday afternoon, ending a four game losing streak for Bryant. The goal, Donovan's first of the season, came in just the fifth minute of play on a shot from 20 yards out that beat Blackbear keeper Jasmine Phillips (Nepean, Ontario) to her right off an assist from defender Steph Del Mistro (East Williston, N.Y.). Donovan is now tied for the team lead in points with four (one goal, two assists), along with Alex DiPippo (Shelton, Conn.) and Kaitlyn Hinck (Bow, N.H.).

The Bulldogs (1-4-1) held a 1-0 advantage until the 32nd minute when Veronique Fleury (Montreal, Quebec) delivered a cross to Christine LaBelle (Nepean, Ontario), who fired a scissor kick into the side net past keeper Katie Mitchell (Deer Park, N.Y.) to tie the game at 1-1. That is how the game would stay through regulation and two overtime periods, as the game concluded in a tie, the first of the season for the Bulldogs. Bryant outshot Maine nine to seven in the contest overall, but neither team was able to muster a shot in the overtime sessions.

The Bulldogs will be back in action Tuesday night as they take on Stony Brook (7 p.m.).
