WOMEN'S SOCCER LOOKS FOR FIRST NEC WIN, HOST SACRED HEART FRIDAY AT 7PM
SMITHFIELD, R.I. - After dropping a heart-breaking 2-1 loss in
double overtime on Sunday, Oct. 11 against Mount St. Mary's, the
Bryant women's soccer team is still searching for its first
conference victory.
The Bulldogs fell to 2-9-0 overall and 0-4 in the conference after losing on a Mount game winner in the 103rd minute of play. Bryant received a goal from sophomore Kaitlyn Hinck (Bow, N.H.) off an Alex Bengston (Andover, Mass.) pass in the 59th minute and held the 1-0 lead until the 88th minute when Mount forward Sadie Winship scored the equalizing tally.
With Mount St. Mary's controlling the tempo of play, the first overtime period went scoreless. The Bulldogs had their chances in the second overtime including a header that Hinck sent over the crossbar from inside the 6-yard box. The Mount continued its success in the second overtime and was able to net the decisive mark in the 103rd minute. Senior Emily Menotti scored the game-winner.
The Pioneers are currently 6-6-1 overall and sit in a tie for fifth place with a 2-2-1 conference mark. Sacred Heart is led by Samantha Kee, 10 points (3 goals, 4 assists) and captain Ashley Testani, 8 points (3 goals, 2 assists).
