WOMEN'S SOCCER SEEKS SECOND WIN OF 2009 CAMPAIGN TONIGHT UNDER THE LIGHTS
SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Fresh off a 2-1 victory over Hartford, the Bryant University women's soccer team looks to pick up their second win of the season when they take on Maine at 7 p.m. under the lights at the Bryant Turf Complex tonight.
The Bulldogs (1-2) scored the game-winning goal off a skillful header by sophomore Kaitlyn Hinck (Bow, N.H.) in the 69th minute of play. Senior captain Molly Wallace (Sandwich, Mass.) sent a free kick into Hinck who flicked the ball into the right side netting of the goal. Junior defender Steph Del Mistro (East Williston, N.Y.) netted the game-tying goal earlier in the 32nd minute by beating the Hawk's keeper to the left side.
The Black Bears have a record of 1-2-1 on the season. Maine forward Laura Martel was named America East Conference player of the week for her performance over the past seven days. Martel leads the conference in scoring with three goals for six points.
