BULLDOGS LOOK TO CARRY MOMENTUM FROM OVERTIME VICTORY INTO GAME VS. NJIT
SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The Bryant University women's soccer team will look to carry the momentum from Friday night's thrilling 2-1 overtime victory over Saint Peter's into Sunday's contest with the New Jersey Institution of Technology (NJIT) at 1 p.m. in Bulldog Stadium.
The Bulldogs enter the contest with a 2-4 record after the Friday night win at the Bryant Turf Complex. Senior forward Holly Tyser (Somers, Conn.) scored the game-winning goal just 46 seconds into the first overtime period as the team defeated the Peahens 2-1. The Bulldogs outshot their opponents by a margin of 24-10. It was the most shots the Bulldogs have taken this season.
The first goal came in the 42nd minute when Bryant freshman Krista Johnstone (Dover, N.H.) was able to get a good shot off that Peahen goalie Caitlin Hoffer was able to sprawl and deflect right to the waiting left foot of Bulldog forward Morgan Derick (Ashland, Mass.) who finished it off.
11 Bulldogs put shots on goal in the contest while senior goalkeeper Katie Mitchell (Deer Park, N.Y.) recorded seven saves.
The Highlanders, affiliated with the Great West conference, come into the matchup with a 2-3-1 record after tying Mount St. Mary's, 1-1, on Friday evening.
