MEN AND WOMEN BOTH PICK UP PAIR OF SATURDAY WINS OVER CLARK U. AND GORDON COLLEGE
BoxscoreWORCESTER, Mass. -- The Bryant University men's and women's swim teams each picked up two wins Saturday at Clark University, beating both the host Cougars and Gordon College.
Freshman Amy Howell (Clifton Park, NY) led the Bulldog women to a 94-86 win over Clark and a 130-54 victory over Gordon with first-place finishes in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:16:54) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:04.77). Fellow rookie Jill Hira (Cheshire, Conn.) pitched in a pair of wins as well, taking top times in the 200-yard freestyle (2:03.63) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:30.37). Both raced in the 200-yard freestyle relay team that took second.
Junior Tom Ferrigno (West Chester, Penn.) paced the men's side to a 103-66 win over the Cougars and a 104-61 win over the Fighting Scots with victories in the 100-yard backstroke (56:36), the 500-yard freestyle (5:01.26), and the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:11.03).
Freshman Mike Gilligan (Cheshire, Conn.) touched the wall first in the 200-yard and 100-yard freestyle with times of 1:57.95 and 50.14, respectively. He also anchored the winning 200-yard freestyle relay for the men.
Both teams next travel to Waltham, Mass. to take on Bentley, Sat., Nov. 10 at 11 a.m.
