Ross Lannan enters his second season with the young Bryant University swimming program after serving as the head coach for the J.C.C. Sailfish Allegheny Group in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Coach Lannan has already made an impact in Smithfield after just one full year under his belt, helping the program accumulate 12 dual meet victories between the men's and women's squad, in addition to several other impressive tournament performances during the 2011-12 season.
During his tenure with J.C.C., Lannan coached three Alleghany Mountain Zone qualifiers (2009) and directed all operations for both beginner and advanced swimmers. Lannan also conducted private lessons in all areas of swimming, including stroke technique, body position, turn over, IM transitions and race preparations.
Prior to coaching the Allegheny Group, Lannan served as the head coach for both the Montour Heights Country Club Swim Team and the Deer Lakes Aquatic Club (USA Swimming Team). There he was able to teach training skills and constructed practice schedules for local high school swimmers.
A 2008 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, Lannan earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications. During his time at Pitt, Lannan was a letterwinner for the Panthers' swim team and was a finalist at the Big East Championships in both the 100m and 200m backstroke. The Pennsylvania native also qualified for the Grand Prix in his senior season.
Ross Lannan graduated from the Valley Forge Military Academy in 2003, where he served as captain of the swim team for three seasons and acheived the Alfred A. Sanelli Athletic Award, presented annually to the Academy's top athletic performer.
