Solomon Defeats Biro To Advance at ITA Championships

FORT MYERS, Fla. ? Bryant University women?s tennis standout SACHA SOLOMON (Bourne, Mass.) defeated Annika Biro of Valdosta State in a three-set thriller at the 2004 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Small College National Championship on Friday. With the win, Solomon advance to the fifth-place match on Saturday morning.

Solomon, who fell to Diana Gherghi of Columbus State in the opening round on Thursday, won the first set 6-3 dropped the second 6-2. However, the Bulldog sophomore would come back strong, winning 6-2 in the decisive third set to advance to the next round.

Solomon will face Daria Segenchuck of East Central University (located in Ada, Oklahoma) on Saturday morning starting at 9:30 a.m. Solomon, the Northeast-10 Conference Freshman and Player of the Year in 2004, captured the ITA East Regional Championship back in September, posting a 5-0 record to advance to this week?s national finals.
