Bulldogs Defeat Merrimack / Solomon 6th at ITA

Bryant sophomore Sacha Solomon (Bourne, Mass.) placed sixth at last week?s ITA Small College National Championships at Fort Meyers, Florida. Solomon fell to Diana Ghergi of Columbus State 6-1, 6-0 in the opening match but rallied to defeat Annika Biro of Valdosta State 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 on Friday. In the fifth-place match Saturday morning, Solomon dropped a straight-set decision to Daria Segenchuk of East Central (Oklahoma) 6-0, 6-4.

As for her teammates, the Bulldogs pulled out a convincing 9-0 win over Merrimack at the Bryant Tennis Courts on Sunday as Alex Spence (Lynnfield, Mass.) led the charge with a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles while Annette Jervasi (Colchester, Conn.) defeated Angela Fischer 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2. Alana Santanello (North Providence, R.I.) was also a winner for the Bulldogs, defeating Rachel Kollet 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5.
