WOMEN'S TENNIS ADVANCES TO CONFERENCE FINALS WITH WIN OVER BENTLEY
EASTON, Mass. - Northeast-10 Player of the Year Sacha Solomon (Bourne, Mass.) was a double winner as Bryant University beat Bentley College, 5-1, in the Northeast-10 Women's Tennis Semifinals Saturday afternoon at Stonehill College. The Bulldogs will face Stonehill College, the conference regular season champion in the tournament final Sunday.
The Bulldogs won two of the three doubles matches and swept the first three flight of singles play to earn the win. The match opened with Solomon and Anette Jervasi (Colchester, Conn.) posting an 8-1 win at top flight doubles. Bentley tied the match as NE-10 All-Conference second team doubles pairing of freshman Heather Haggerty and sophomore Kelly Nugent earned an 8-4 win at number three. Bryant took a 2-1 lead as Alex Spence (Lynnfield, Mass.) and Alanna Santanello (North Providence, R.I.) earned an 8-5 win at number two doubles.
The Bulldogs used the momentum of the doubles wins to close out the match with straight set wins in the top three flights of singles play. Solomon won 6-2, 6-4 at top flight singles, while Spence and Jervasi each won 6-4, 6-2 at number two and number three to close out the match.
