Women's Tennis Falls to Slippery Rock 5-1 in NCAA Second Round
PROVIDENCE, R.I. Taking a 2-1 lead into singles play, third-seeded Slippery Rock earned wins at No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 singles to earn a 5-1 win over second-seeded Bryant University in NCAA Division II womens tennis second round action Saturday at Brown Universitys Pizzitola Center. With the win, Slippery Rock will advance to the Round of 16 at Houston, TX next week. Bryant ends its season with a school-record 24 wins, finishing the year 24-3 overall.

Women's Tennis Opens NCAA Tourney with 5-3 Win over Philadelphia
PROVIDENCE, R.I. The Bryant University womens tennis team advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament for the fourth consecutive time as the Bulldogs, the No. 2 seed of the East Regional, defeated seventh-seed Philadelphia in first round action Friday at Brown Universitys Pizzitola Center. Bryant will advance to face Slippery Rock on Saturday starting at 11 a.m. for the right to advance to the Round of 16 in Houston, TX. Slippery Rock was a 5-0 winner over Holy Family in the second match of the day.

2008 NCAA WOMEN'S TENNIS EAST REGIONAL hosted by BRYANT UNIVERSITY
SMITHFIELD, RI - The 2008 NCAA Women's Tennis Regional will kick off Friday morning at 11 a.m. with Bryant taking on Philadelphia. Holy Family and Slippery Rock will compete in the afternoon session. Follow this link for more information on the 2008 regional. In the event of rain Friday, the tournament will shift to the Brown University Tennis Courts at the Pizzitola Center in Providence, RI.

Women's Tennis Selected to Host NCAA First and Second Round
SMITHFIELD, RI - The Bryant University women's tennis team will make its fifth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division II tournament next week when the Bulldogs host the first and second rounds of the 2008 NCAA Division II tournament at the Bryant University Tennis Complex.
Bryant (23-2), the winner No. 2 seed in the East Region, will open the tournament against Philadelphia University (17-6) on Friday, May 9. Slippery Rock (20-3) and Holy Family (15-5) will play in the other first round game with the winners to meet Saturday, May 10 at 12 pm.

EASTON, MA - After posting a perfect 12-0 regular season conference record, the Bryant University womens tennis team rolled to their fifth-consecutive Northeast-10 Conference Championship Sunday afternoon with a dominating 5-0 win over Saint Michaels College Sunday afternoon in Easton, MA. The win, Bryants 23rd this season, marks the first time in 20 years that a school from the Northeast-10 Conference won both the mens and womens regular season and tournament championship.

Women's Tennis Places Six On All-Conference Team
SOUTH EASTON, Mass The Bryant University women's tennis team placed six players on the 2008 Northeast-10 All-Conference team. Three were named first team all-conference and three earned second team all-conference honors.
Freshmen Katie Francazio (Cranston, RI) and Valeria Couto Cuervo (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) were both named first team all-conference at Nos. 4 and 5 respectively while sophomore Amanda Granville (Hawley, PA) was named first team all-conference at No. 6 singles.

SMITHFIELD, RI Top-seeded Bryant University breezed through a quick 5-0 win over eighth-seed Assumption College in Northeast-10 Conference Quarterfinal action Wednesday at the Bryant Tennis Courts Complex. The Bulldogs rode strong doubles play into singles with Lauren Mullen (Braintree, RI) defeating Grace Fox, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6 and Katie Francazio (Cranston, RI) clinching the win with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Meg Wnuk at No. 4 singles.
The Bulldogs will face the winner of the Stonehill / Merrimack quarterfinal winner this Friday at 3 p.m. at the Bryant Tennis Courts.

The Bulldogs took a 2-1 lead after doubles play with Emma Czarnecki (Huntington Woods, MI) and Chelsea Downing (Cherry Hills, CO) picking up an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles. The Bulldogs travel to Assumption Sunday.

SMITHFIELD, RI The Bryant University womens tennis team picked up its 15th win of the season Thursday afternoon with a 9-0 non-conference win over Roger Williams at the Bryant Tennis Courts Complex.
Bryant (15-2) opened with three wins in doubles play and cruised with solid singles play under beautiful sunny skies. Chelsea Downing earned a 6-3, 6-4 win over Leah Ribchinsky at No. 2 singles and Michelle Burke followed with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles, defeating Joanna Nettelfield.

WOMEN'S AND MEN'S TENNIS BOTH DEBUT AT NO. 3 IN EAST REGION
SMITHFIELD, RI -- The Bryant University men's and women's tennis teams, both undefeated in Northeast-10 Conference play, set the bar high for the 2008 campaign, debuting at No. 3 in the season's first NCAA Regional Poll, released April 2.
On the women's side, the Bulldogs hold top-5 rankings in both regional polls, sitting at No. 3 in the NCAA East Regional Poll and No. 5 in the ITA East Regional Poll. Bryant is 11-2 overall with a perfect 7-0 record against Northeast-10 competition and are 3-2 in regional action.

EAST HARTFORD, CONN. - The Bryant women's tennis team took a pair of Northeast-10 Conference wins over the weekend, defeating Le Moyne College, 9-0, Saturday in East Hartford, Conn. before topping Saint Michael's College, 8-1, Sunday in Colchester, Vt.
The victories moved the Bulldogs to 11-2 on the year while keeping them an undefeated 5-0 in conference play.

Bryant opened the match winning two of three doubles points with Michelle Burke and Chelsea Downing holding on for an 8-5 win over Katie Hasyn and Alison Carney. Valeria Couto Cuervo and Emma Czarnecki won at No. 2 doubles, 8-3.

The Bulldogs are the highest Northeast-10 Conference team ranked. Sophomore Chelsea Downing is ranked No. 15 individually while the doubles tandem of Downing and Michelle Burke of Barrington, RI are ranked No. 9 in the East Region.

Burke, Downing Advance to Third Round at ITA Singles Competition at Bloomsburg University
Coach Barbara Cilli's women's tennis team completed play at this weekend's ITA tournament in Bloomsburg, PA led by senior Michelle Burke (Barrington, RI) and freshman Chelsea Downing (Cherry Hills, CO).
Burke and Downing, competing in the "A" singles draw, each won three matches to third round. Burke and Downing also teamed up in the "A" doubles draw, buty were defeated in a very close match 9-8 (7-3).
Senior Heather Fedesco (Rocky Hill, CT) and Amanda Granville (Hawley, PA) also advanced to the third round of the "B" singles draw.
