BRYANT WOMEN CAPTURE FIFTH-STRAIGHT CONFERENCE TITLE WITH 5-0 WIN OVER SAINT MICHAEL'S
EASTON, MA - After posting a perfect 12-0 regular season conference
record, the Bryant University women's tennis team rolled to their
fifth-consecutive Northeast-10 Conference Championship Sunday
afternoon with a dominating 5-0 win over Saint Michael's College
Sunday afternoon in Easton, MA.
The win, Bryant's 23rd this season, marks the first time in 20 years that a school from the Northeast-10 Conference won both the men's and women's regular season and tournament championship.
Sunday's win was the 23rd of the season for the Bulldogs and the second dominating effort over the Purple Knights. The Bulldogs rolled to an 8-1 win in Colchester, VT back on March 30.
The win is also the 15th-straight for the Bulldogs who will enter the NCAA tournament for the fifth-straight time in 2008 and will be the No. 2 seed in the regional.
After sweeping all three doubles points, freshman Katie Francazio (Cranston, RI) made it 4-0 with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Michelle Wood and fellow classmate Valeria Couto Cuervo clinched the victory by closing out a 6-2, 6-1 win over Marran Ranks at No. 5 singles.
