BRYANT WOMEN'S TENNIS PLACES SIX ON ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM

SOUTH EASTON, Mass - The Bryant University women's tennis team placed six players on the 2008 Northeast-10 All-Conference team. Three were named first team all-conference and three earned second team all-conference honors.
Freshmen Katie Francazio (Cranston, RI) and Valeria Couto Cuervo (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) were both named first team all-conference at Nos. 4 and 5 respectively while sophomore Amanda Granville (Hawley, PA) was named first team all-conference at No. 6 singles.
Francazio was undefeated this year in the Northeast-10 at 12-0 and went 22-1 overall heading into Sunday's conference championship. Couto Cuervo was 7-0 in conference play this season while Granville was undefeated at No. 6.
Sophomore Emma Czarnecki (Huntington Woods, Michigan) earned second team all-conference at No. 1 singles, going 7-1 overall including a straight-set 6-4, 6-1 win over Pace's Natalija Subotic who was named first team all-conference.
Sophomore Chelsea Downing (Cherry Hills, Colorado) was named second team all-conference at No. 2 singles while Michelle Burke (Barrington, R.I.), a senior, was named second-team at No. 3 singles.
Burke and Downing were named first team doubles while Francazio and Lauren Mullen (Braintree, MA) were named third team all-conference at No. 3 doubles.
Saint Michael's coach Greg Cluff was voted Coach of the Year by the conference coaches after leading the Purple Knights to 15 wins.
Bryant, 22-2, ranked No. 2 in the region, posted another undefeated conference season at 12-0, will go for its fifth-straight Northeast-10 Conference Championship Sunday under coach Barbara Cilli.
