WOMEN'S TENNIS DEFEATS SOUTHERN NH 7-2

MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Bryant University women's tennis team improved to 2-1 overall and 2-0 in the Northeast-10 Conference following a 7-2 victory over Southern New Hampshire University here today. SNHU dropped to 1-1 overall and 1-1 in the league.
Bryant opened play by taking two of three doubles matches, and secured the victory by winning the first three singles matches.
Bryant senior Sacha Solomon (Bourne, MA) posted a 6-0, 6-2 victory over junior Lauren Nigrelli (Westerly, RI) at No. 1 singles. Solomon also teamed up with senior Annette Jervasi (Colchester, CT) to post an 8-4 victory over Nigrelli and junior Kristen Franco (Bedford, NH) at No. 1 doubles. Jervasi defeated Franco 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles.
Junior Amanda Nason (Center Sandwich, MA) picked up a point for SNHU at No. 6 singles following an 8-3 victory over Heather Fedesco (Rocky Hill, CT). Kristen Swanson and juniors Michelle Burke (Barrington, RI) and Lauren Mullen (Braintree, MA) all posted singles wins for the visiting Bulldogs.
SNHU's second point came at No. 3 doubles, where Nason and classmate Melissa Ramos (Stoughton, MA) and posted an 8-6 victory over Swanson and sophomore Shea Crosby (Guilford, CT).
Bryant returns to action Sept. 29 when it hosts Assumption College in a league match at 3 p.m. SNHU is idle until Sept. 30 when it travels to Assumption for a match at 11 a.m.
