Women's Tennis Defeats Stonehill 6-3

EASTON, Mass.--  Seniors Sacha Solomon (Bourne, Mass.), Annette Jervasi (Colchester, Conn.) and Heather Fedesco (Rocky Hill, Conn.) were all winners in both singles and doubles play in lifting Bryant to a 6-3 Northeast-10 Conference women’s tennis dual-match triumph over Stonehill Thursday afternoon on the Stonehill Courts.

        Solomon, Jervasi and Fedesco each won in straight sets in singles action for the visiting Bulldogs (9-2, 9-1 Northeast-10), who swept all three doubles matches as well on the day.  Jervasi and Solomon teamed up for an 8-4 win at the number one spot, while senior Lauren Mullen (Braintree, Mass.) and junior Michelle Burke (Barrington, R.I.) were 8-5 winners at the number two position.  Fedesco and freshman Kristen Swanson (West Newbury, Mass.) accounted for the other Bryant point with an 8-2 victory at the number three doubles spot.

        Junior Allison Bleakney (Lewiston, Maine) and freshman Lauren Rowinski (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) were both three-set winners in singles play on the day for the host Skyhawks (8-5, 5-3 Northeast-10) in a re-match of last year’s conference championship match, while freshman Samantha Dircks (Stony Brook, N.Y.) collected the other Stonehill point with a win at number four singles.

        Bryant hosts Franklin Pierce in a Northeast-10 outing on Friday afternoon in Smithfield, R.I. beginning at 2:30 p.m.
