Women's Tennis Hosts NE-10 Quarterfinal Round Thursday

WOMEN'S TENNIS HOSTS SAINT ANSELM THURSDAY

SMITHFIELD, RI - The bryant women's tennis team will host Saint Anselm College on Thursday (April 19) for a Northeast-10 Conference quarterfinal round match starting at 2 p.m. The winner will advance to the semifinals on Saturday at Stonehill College.  

The Purple Knights of Saint Michael's College claim the top seed in the Northeast-10 Women's Tennis Championship, presented by Webster Bank and a share of the regular season title.

Saint Michael's finished the season 12-6 overall and in a three-way tie at 11-1 in conference play with Bentley College (13-9, 11-1 NE-10) and Bryant University (11-5, 11-1 NE-10). Using the conference tie-break policy, Saint Michael's came out first followed by Bentley at the number two spot and Bryant earning third seed. Stonehill College (11-6, 8-4 NE-10) received the number four seed. All fou r teams will host quarterfinal matches Thursday afternoon.

Quarterfinal matches include #8 Assumption College (5-7, 5-7 NE-10) at #1 Saint Michael's, #7 Le Moyne College (7-8, 6-6 NE-10) at #2 Bentley, #6 Saint Anselm (7-5, 7-5 NE-10) at #3 Bryant and #5 Southern New Hampshire (8-5, 8-4 NE-10) at #4 Stonehill. Stonehill won the tie-break with Southern New Hampshire for the #4 seed due to their regular season conference win.

Quarterfinal matches are slated for 2 p.m. with the exception of the Southern New Hampshire/Stonehill match, which is set for 1 p.m., and the Le Moyne/Bentley match which is still to be determined.

The semifinal round will take place at Stonehill on Saturday, April 21 with the winner of the Assumption/Saint Michael's matching up with the winner of Southern New Hampshire/Stonehill at 1 p.m. followed by the winner of Le Moyne/Bentley and the winner of Saint Anselm/Bryant at 3:30 p.m.

The championship round is slated for 11 a. m. on Sunday, April 22 at Stonehill.

Sponsoring 23 championship sports and 15 full-time members, the Northeast-10 is the second largest NCAA Division II athletic conference in the nation and sponsors the most championships of any Division II conference.
