BRYANT WOMEN'S TENNIS DOWNS QUEENS (NY) 5-3 IN FIRST ROUND OF NCAA TOURNEY
CALIFORNIA, PA - Bryant University, led by Head Coach Barbara
Cilli, defeated Queens (N.Y.) today during the first round of the
NCAA Regional Women's Tennis Tournament 5-3.
Michelle Burke (Barrington, R.I.) and Lauren Mullen (Braintree,
Mass.) led the Bulldogs to an 8-4 doubles win to start the match.
Burke also won her singles match defeating Jess Franklin (Boca
Raton, Fla) 7-6 (3), 6-2.
In the #1 doubles match Queens (N.Y.) team of Dominika Bajuk
(Howard Beach, N.Y.) and Alyssa Morra (Bronx, N.Y.) defeated Sacha
Solomon (Bourne, Mass.) and Annette Jervasi (Colchester, Conn.)
8-4. Both Bajuk and Morra also defeated Solomon and Jeryasi in
their singles matches respectively accounting for all three matches
that Queens won in the competition.
Bryant will return to action tomorrow (Saturday, May 5) at 10 a.m.
to take on the winner of the first round match between the
California Vulcans and Holy Family Tigers.
