Women's Tennis Falls to California PA in Second Round of NCAA Tournament

CALIFORNIA, PA - The Bryant women's tennis season came to a close Saturday as the Bulldogs fell to host California PA, ranked No. 6 nationally, by a score of 5-0 in the second round of the NCAA Division II Championships. 

California started off strong sweeping all three doubles matches to open up the day. The first doubles pairing of Jr. Inga Chilingaryan (Yerevan, Armenia) and Fr. Yumi Matsuto (Kobeshi, Japan) defeated the Bryant pair of Sr. Sacha Solomon (Bourne, Mass.) and Sr. Annette Jervasi (Colchester, Conn.) 8-5.

In the other doubles matches Lisa Santoro (Plaisir, France ) and Helena VanEysendeyk (Meythet, France) overcame their opponents 8-1 while on court three Nina Reiswich (Saarbrucken, Germany) and Katie Anderson (Kallangur, Ausralia) sought out a victory, 8-0 over Kristen Swanson (West Newbury, Mass.) and Shea Crosby (Guilford, Conn.).

Once again it only took two singles matches for Cal to complete their day. On court five Reiswich defeated Lauren Mullen (Braintree, Mass.) 6-0, 6-1 while on court six Fr. Olga Alekseeva (Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan) defeated Heather Fedesco (Rocky Hill, Conn.) 6-0, 6-0 in straight sets.

The Vulcans will next travel to Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Florida to kick off the third round on May 9. Cal will face off against South Carolina-Upstate who is currently ranked 9th in the country.
