TENNIS HOSTS SUCCESSFUL TENNIS CAMP
SMITHFIELD, RI - The Bryant University tennis teams conducted a successful summer camp in mid June at the Bryant Tennis Complex.

BRYANT STUDENT-ATHLETES EXCEL IN THE CLASSROOM
SMITHFIELD, RI – Bryant University student-athletes have not only enjoyed tremendous success on the field, but continue to excel in the classroom too. In the spring of 2009, Bryant’s student-athletes posted a combined 2.97 GPA overall, marking the highest overall GPA in school history. Four programs posted a team-average GPA better than a 3.0.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- The women’s tennis team returns to the Bryant courts this weekend to host its first and only home match of the season. The Bulldogs will be hosting fellow Division I transitioner NJIT at 1:30 p.m. as they look to end their inaugural DI season with their fourth win of the year.

WORCESTER, MA – The Bryant University women’s tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision at Holy Cross Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs, playing their second match in as many days, fall to 3-9 on the season. Bryant dropped the doubles point to open the match despite picking up a solid 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles.

BROOKLYN, NY – The Bryant University women’s tennis team dropped a 5-2 non-conference tennis match Friday afternoon to Long Island University. The Bulldogs earned both points on defaults, one at No. 3 doubles and one at No. 6 singles.

ORLANDO, FL – The Bryant University women’s tennis team closed out its Spring Break trip to Florida with a big 5-2 win over Saint Joseph’s Thursday afternoon. The win moves the Bulldogs to 3-6 on the season overall and 2-1 on the three-match trip to the Sunshine State.

MIDDLETON, CT – The Bryant women’s tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Sacred Heart Saturday evening. The loss drops the Bulldogs to 1-5 on the season. Freshman Katie McCabe (Barrington, RI) picked up Bryant’s lone win on the night, rallying back from a 6-3 loss in the first set to defeat Nicole Betz 6-4, 10-8 at No. 6 singles play.

HAMDEN, NJ - The Bryant University women's tennis team opened its spring schedule with a 7-0 loss at Quinnipiac. The Bulldogs fell in straight-sets in singles play with newcomer Morganne Downing (Cherry Hills, CO) falling to Mary Wilson at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-2.

WOMEN'S TENNIS COMPETES AT QUINNIPIAC INVITATIONAL
HAMDEN, CT- After defeating Providence in their first head-to-head Division I match, the Bryant University women’s tennis team took part in the Quinnipiac Invitational Tournament over the weekend. In first singles action, junior Emma Czarnecki (Huntington Woods, MI) lost a tough match in a third set tiebreaker to Mary Wilson (Quinnipiac), with the final tally being 4-6, 6-4, 10-3. Valieria Couto Cuervo (Guaynabo, PR), Chelsea Downing (Cherry Hills Village, CO), Martha Chapman, Katharine Francazio (Cranston, RI), Amanda Granville (Hawley, PA) and Talia Avian also competed in singles action and lost their first round matches.

Women's Tennis Defeats Providence 4-3 Saturday
SMITHFIELD, RI – The Bryant University women's tennis opened its first Division I season with a hard-fought 4-3 win over visiting Providence College Saturday afternoon at the Bryant Tennis Complex. The Bulldogs won the opening doubles point thanks to a strong effort from Emma Czarnecki and Chelsea Downing. Tied 8-8, the Bulldog duo earned an 8-6 victory in the tie breaker, giving the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead in the match. In singles play, Czarnecki was again victorious at No. 1 singles while Katie Francazio and Valeria Couto Cuervo won their respective matches at No. 3 and No. 4 singles.
