WOMEN'S TENNIS SPLITS WEEKEND ACTION IN GARDEN STATE

SMITHFIELD, RI - The Bryant University women's tennis team improved to 2-4 after a convincing 7-0 decision on Sunday over St. Peter's College after falling 6-1 at NJIT on Saturday.

On Saturday, NJIT defeated the Bulldogs 6-1 as freshman Claudia Hidalgo (Guayaquil, Ecuador) picked up the only win for Bryant. NJIT took early control of the match, winning all three doubles matches to pick up the point. Hidalgo followed with a win in the No. 1 singles match. The freshman defeated Nina Mayevska 6-3, 2-6 and 6-3 to earn the only point for the Bulldogs.

Bryant put on a strong performance on Sunday at St. Peter's as the Bulldogs swept the Peahens in every match and earned the 7-0 victory. Bryant opened with three wins in the doubles matches to win the early point and cruised from there. Once again Hidalgo picked up a win at No. 1 singles, defeating Kristen Chen 6-3 and 6-3. Kate McCabe (Barrington, RI) and Chelsea Downing (Cherry Hills Village, Colo.) picked up straight-set victories at No. 5 and No. 6 singles defeating their opponents 6-0 and 6-0. Morganne Downing (Cherry Hills Village, Colo.) also picked up a big win at No. 2 singles defeating Juneisa Williams 6-1 and 7-5.
