SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University women's tennis team has been picked to finish third in the annual Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, the league announced on Friday.
Coming off a No. 4 seed in the conference tournament a year ago, the Bulldogs enter 2014 tied with Sacred Heart for the third spot in the NEC. Two-time reigning champion Fairleigh Dickinson was a unanimous selection to win its third-straight title, receiving all eight possible first-place votes. LIU Brooklyn was picked second, collecting the final first-place vote. Mount St. Mary's, Saint Francis U., Robert Morris, Wagner and St. Francis Brooklyn were picked to finish 5-9, rounding out the poll.
The Bulldogs opened their spring season last weekend and will face the first of three NEC opponents on March 11 when they take on LIU Brooklyn in Puerto Rico.
