BRYANT VOLLEYBALL IMPROVES TO 10-1 WITH BIG CONFERENCE WIN TUESDAY

WALTHAM, Mass. ? The Bryant women?s volleyball team picked up a big Northeast-10 Conference win on the road Tuesday evening, defeating conference rival Bentley College 3-0. Game scores were 30-27, 30-27, 30-17. With the win, Bryant improves to 10-1 on the season and stayed undefeated in Northeast-10 play at 4-0.

Junior Michelle Muniz (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) helped pace the Bulldog attack on the night, registering 22 kills offensively. The conference player of the week for the third-straight week, also helped out on the defensive side with 21 digs.

Teammate and senior Carola Pierluisi (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico), the returning libero of the year in the conference, helped control things defensively with a team-best 31 digs on the night.

After winning a tightly contested first game 30-27, the Bulldogs trailed the Falcons by as much as nine points in the second stanza. But behind Muniz and the play of freshman setter Tiffany Garry (Frankfort, IL), the Bulldogs were able to regroup and pulled out a big 30-27 win to go up 2-0 in the match.

From there, the Bulldogs continued to play well, earning a 30-17 win in the third. Freshman standout Jessica Henson (Bedford, TX) ? the conference freshman of the week ? played well with 14 kills while sophomore Jessica Cegarra (Danville, NH) added 11.

Bryant will return home to host Assumption and Dowling this Friday night. The Bulldogs will take on the Greyhounds of Assumption starting at 4:30 p.m. on Friday at the Chace Athletic Center and will host Dowling College of the NYCAC Conference at 6 p.m. The games are part of Bryant?s Homecoming & Reunion Weekend on campus.
