Volleyball Sweeps Invitational, Pierluisi Named MVP

SMITHFIELD, RI ? The Bryant University volleyball team won both of their matches today 3-0, to complete a sweep of the Bryant Invitational. Bryant beat AIC 30-12, 30-15, and 30-18 then went on to beat Saint Anselm 30-8, 30-25 and 30-15.
Senior libero Carola Pierluisi (Guaynabo, PR) was named MVP and Libero of the Invitational. She finished with 92 digs in the tournament. Junior outside hitter Michelle Muniz (Guaynabo, PR) and freshman setter Tiffany Garry (Frankfort, IL) were also named to the All-Invitational team.
In the first match of the day Bryant (16-2) beat AIC 3-0 by scores of 30-12, 30-15, and 30-18. Pierluisi had 17 digs in the match. Muniz had 18 attacks and 12 kills and Garry had 35 assists. Junior middle hitter Lindsay Klix (Rochester Hills, MI) also chipped in with 20 attacks and nine kills.
In their second match of the day Bryant beat Saint Anselm 3-0 by scores of 30-8, 30-25, and 30-15. Pierluisi had 17 digs again for the Bulldogs, while Muniz had 25 attacks and 14 kills, and Garry had 33 assists.
With the wins Bryant went 4-0 in matches and 12-0 games for the Invitational. They will next be in action Tuesday night at 7:00pm against Saint Anselm. The game will be played at the Chace Athletic Center.
