Garry Named NE-10 Setter of the Year
BRYANT'S TIFFANY GARRY NAMED SETTER OF THE YEAR
South Easton, Mass. – For the second-straight year,
Bryant's Tiffany Garry (Frankfort, IL) - right- has been named the
Northeast-10 Conference Setter of the Year. Garry has been
outstanding this season with 1,466 career assists and led the
Bulldogs with 103 service aces. Senior outside hitter
Michelle Muniz was named the 2005 Northeast-10 Conference
Volleyball Player of the Year as voted by the conference
coaches.
Muniz was the NE-10 Player of the Year in 2003 and 2004, in
addition to being the NE-10 Freshman of the Year in 2002. This
season, the four-time Northeast-10 First Team pick leads her team
in kills with 487 recorded during the regular season alone and also
leads in digs as she enters the conference tournament with 420.
Bryant and Bentley College split all major accolades this year.
Also recognized from the Bulldogs was sophomore setter Tiffany
Garry of Frankfort, Illinois, named Setter of the Year and received
second team honors for the second straight year.
For the Falcons, Becca Rector of Omaha, Nebraska earned Freshman of
the Year honors, while senior Katie Markstein of La Jolla,
California was named Libero/Defensive Player of the Year, and Sandy
Hoffman was named Coach of the Year. This marks Hoffman’s
seventh appointment as the league’s coach of the year.
Muniz and Markstein were also named to the Northeast-10
All-Conference First Team. They were joined Bentley’s
Christina Sadowski, Julie Handy the University of Massachusetts
Lowell, Pace University’s Maja Iljic and Stephanie Brink from
the College of Saint Rose.
The Northeast-10 All-Conference Second Team included Garry and
teammate Jessica Cegarra, Bentley’s Amber Gracey, Le Moyne
College’s Lindsey Fattey and Shannon Campbell from Saint
Rose.
The Northeast-10 All-Conference Third Team included Franklin
Pierce’s Nicole Bucholtz and Tara Vece, Julie McLaud of Le
Moyne, Katie Harrington of UMass Lowell and Lindsay Larson of
Merrimack College.
