BRYANT WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL SIGNS FOUR STUDENT ATHLETES TO NATIONAL LETTERS OF INTENT
SMITHFIELD, RI - The Bryant University Department of Athletics is proud to announce the signing of four student-athletes to national letters of intent to enroll and participate in intercollegiate women's volleyball at the university in the fall of 2007. The announcement was made today by Director of Athletics Bill Smith and Head Coach Theresa Garlacy
Ashley Schneck, 5-8, Setter, Wakefield, RI / Prout School
Helped lead team to Rhode Island Fall Class II State Championship ... State Tournament MVP ... Undefeated division record ... State Finalists in junior year under coach Wendi Beauregard ... Tri-Captain and starting setter ... Honor Roll student ... Co-Captain of varsity team at South Kingstown High School before transferring to Prout in February of 2006 ... First Team All-State selection as a junior ... Member of R.I. Juniors Volleyball Club.
"Ashley grew up in the gym and is a student of the game," commented Garlacy. "Her father (Bob) has been the longtime head volleyball coach at the University of Rhode Island. She is quick and has a great sense of the floor on defense."
Adrienne Boss, 5-10, Middle Hitter/ Right Side , Dracut, Mass. / Central Catholic High School
Four-year starting middle hitter ... Helped lead team to state tournament all four years including Merrimack Valley Conference co-championship in 2003 ... Two-Year MVC All-Star ... Team Captain ... MVC All-Star in track ...Holds school high school jump record ... Plans of concentrating in business and marketing at Bryant.
"A big lefty who will be difficult to block, especially out of the middle," said Garlacy. "Very versatile and can play any of the front row positions."
Miranda Kolb, 6-0, Setter, Holt, Michigan / Holt High School
Helped lead team to two state tournament titles as well as 2005 Capital Area Activities Conference title ... All-Region selection .. All-Conference and All-Area ... League Invitational All-Tournament team ... League record holder for single season assists and record for assists in three and five game matches ... Plans to concentrate in communication at Bryant.
"At six-foot, Miranda will be the biggest setter ever to play at Bryant," said Garlacy. "She is an outstanding leader on and off the court. She brings very strong fundamental skills to our program as an excellent all around player.
Caitlyn Kogge, 6-3, Middle Hitter, Enfield, Conn. / Enrico Fermi HS
Lettered in volleyball, basketball and track ... Two-Time All-Conference selection in volleyball and track ... Three-time All-Academic ... National Honor Society ... Member of record holding sprint relay team in 4 x 400 meter and sprint relays.
"An intimidating force at the net," said Garlacy. "Once
she perfects her transition game, she will become a dominating
attacker."
