BRYANT VOLLEYBALL PLACES THREE ON ACADEMIC ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM
SOUTH EASTON, Mass. - The Bryant University women's volleyball team placed three student-athletes on the 2007 Northeast-10 Conference All-Academic team. Junior defensive specialist Maureen Atkins (Fenton, MO) was named First Team All-Academic, sophomore Julie Geonnotti (St. Louis Park, Minn.) was named to the All-Academic Second Team, and junior Monika Sattler (Gruenwald, Germany) was named Third Team All-Academic.
To be eligible for selection, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: participated in at least half of the team's competitions and either be a starter or significant contributor, achieved at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average, and completed at least one academic year.
Atkins, a finance major, has played in 128 of Bryant's 129 games this year and leads the Bulldogs with 479 defensive digs this season. She has started in all 36 matches and has 40 service aces. Geonnotti, an elementary education and mathematics major, is currently second on the team with 266 kills and is hitting .202 this year. Sattler has been a key reserve for the Bulldogs all season, averaging 1.81 kills per game.
