VOLLEYBALL SIGNS STANDOUT FROM COLORADO

Durango, Colorado native Jazmin Stoner signed an NLI to attend Bryant University this fall.

SMITHFIELD, RI -  Bryant University head women's volleyball coach Theresa Garlacy is pleased to announce the signing JAZMIN STONER (Durango, Colorado) to a National Letter of Intent to enroll and participate in the sport of women's volleyball at Bryant University this fall.  The announcement was made today by coach Garlacy and Director of Athletics Bill Smith.

Stoner, and outside hitter, was a three-year varsity starter at Durango High School.  In 2006, she helped lead Durango to the Southwest League Championship and a third-place finish at the Colorado State Championships.  During the season, Stoner took first place honors at the King of the Mountain Doubles Tournament in Vail, Colorado.

She was named All-State by the Colorado Coaches of Girls Sports (CCGS) and by the Colorado High School Athletic Association (CHSA).  As team captain in 2007, she was named team MVP and first team all-conference in leading the team to a pair of undefeated seasons and back-to-back league championships.

A standout student in the classroom, Stoner is a three-year Student Council member and recently was named the recipient of the Renaissance Award given to students in the top ten percent.  She was named all-Academic first team in 2006 and 2007.

Bryant, which will begin the school's four-year transition to Division I in 2008, is coming off a championship season last fall, winning the Northeast-10 Conference regular season and tournament championship and advancing to the NCAA Regional Final in November. The Bulldogs posted a 32-13 overall record and perfect 14-0 mark in the NE-10.
