BULLDOGS OPEN DARTMOUTH TOURNAMENT WITH 3-0 WIN OVER SAINT FRANCIS (NY)

HANOVER, NH -- The Bryant University volleyball team started the weekend out right, getting double-digit kills from freshmen Maria Scocca (Melrose, Mass.) and Jasmin Stoner (Durango, Colo.) in a 3-0 win over Saint Francis (NY) in the opening round of the Dartmouth Tournament Friday night.

The Terriers (0-16) couldn't get closer than within nine points in the three-set sweep, as the Bulldogs (10-5) got 11 kills from Stoner and another 10 from Scocca.

Senior co-captain Maureen Atkins (Fenton, Mo.) recorded three service aces and seven digs, while co-captain Delia Glover (Marston Mills, Mass.) led the team with 16 digs. Sophomore setter Miranda Kolb (Holt, Mich.) registered 35 assists in the win.

Scocca also added a game-high five blocks, two of them solo.

Saint Francis (NY) was led by 10 kills from Detelina Dimitrova and 23 digs by Liliana Rodriguez.

The Bulldogs take on Ivy League opponents Harvard University and host Dartmouth College, Saturday, Sept. 27 at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., respectively, to round out the weekend tournament.
