VOLLEYBALL RETURNS TO ACTION THIS WEEKEND IN SACRED HEART TOURNAMENT

SMITHFIELD, RI -- The 2008 Bryant University volleyball team is gearing up for its return to Division I action this weekend after a five-day break that marked the first week of classes for the Bulldogs. Bryant will travel to Fairfield, Conn. to take on a weekend's worth of opponents in the Sacred Heart Classic, Sept. 6 and 7.

On Saturday, the 2-1 Bulldogs open the tournment with an 11 a.m. faceoff with the 1-2 University of Hartford. The Hawks kicked off their 2008 season with a win over North Carolina A&T in last weekend's UNCW Battle of the Beach, but dropped a pair of matches to host UNCW and Radford in Day 2.

But Bryant will be pulling double-duty on Saturday, and will get a short breather before a quick turnaround game against Holy Cross at 3 p.m. The Crusaders enter the weekend 0-1 after falling to Providence College, 3-0, in their season opener Sept. 3

Sunday holds a 10 a.m. matchup with host Sacred Heart University for the Bulldogs. The Pioneers are 1-2 after starting their season last weekend at the Niagara Invitational, where they knocked off host Niagara, 3-0, between losses to Southern Illinois and Oakland (MI).

All three Bryant matches, as well as all SHU Invitational matches, can be followed live via GameTracker. (Click on the Live Stats link on Bryant schedule.) Sunday's 10 a.m. matchup with host Sacred Heart, as well as all other Pioneer matchups, will be videostreamed live. The videostreaming is live and will not be archived for later viewing. Both are free.
