BULLDOGS' STREAK SNAPPED AT FOUR MATCHES, FALL TO UNH, 3-0, TUESDAY NIGHT
DURHAM, N.H. - The Bryant University women's volleyball team saw its four-game winning streak snapped Tuesday night against the University of New Hampshire, as the Wildcats took the Bulldogs, 3-0, at Lundholm Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs, now 5-2 in their first Division I season, were led by five kills from freshman Maria Scocca (Melrose, Mass.). The rookie also recorded a team-high three block assists. Fellow frosh Jazmin Stoner (Durango, Colo.) also helped lead the way with three kills and a pair of service aces.
Still, it wasn't enough to stop the Wildcats (1-6) from getting their first win of 2008 in their home opener. Eight kills from Kirsten Bates and Christie Dorch paved the way to a three-set win for UNH, while Lindsay Fogarty added five kills and five block assists.
The Bulldogs now look forward to this weekend's Crusader Classic, hosted by the College of the Holy Cross, Friday, Sept. 12 and Saturday, Sept. 13. Bryant will take on future Northeast conference opponent Wagner College Friday at 4:30 p.m. before a Saturday doubleheader that will feature Providence College at 4 p.m. and a rematch with Holy Cross at 7 p.m.
