BULLDOG VOLLEYBALL TAKES ON UNH IN FIRST NON-TOURNAMENT MATCHUP OF THE SEASON; LOOKS TO ADD ONTO FOUR-GAME WINNING STREAK

SMITHFIELD, RI -- The Bryant University volleyball team takes its 5-1 record to Durham, N.H., Tuesday, Sept. 9 to take on the University of New Hampshire in the Bulldogs' first non-tournament game of the 2008 season.

The Bulldogs have been shocking the competition early and often in their first year of Division I action, going 2-1 and 3-0 in two previous weekend tournaments, their only loss coming in a 3-2 final against Navy in the season's first weekend.

Bryant is currently riding a four-game winning streak, and takes that momentum into Lundholm Gymnasium Tuesday night for the 7 p.m. matchup against the 0-6 Wildcats.

Rookie Jazmin Stoner (Durango, Colo.) has been a huge asset to the Bulldogs so far this year, leading the team in kills (63), service aces (10) and points (76.5). Another freshman, Maria Scocca (Melrose, Mass.) has been a factor at the net as well, recording a team-best 10 solo blocks and 17 block assists in 22 sets already in 2008.

Sophomore setter Miranda Kolb (Holt, Mich.) is settling in well in her first year as a starter for Bryant, registering 208 assists and 46 digs so far, while senior co-captain Delia Glover (Marston Mills, Mass.) leads the team in digs with 64.

Kirsten Bates leads the Wildcats with 86 kills, more than doubling the next-closest teammate, while registering five service aces and 55 digs.

Tuesday night's game will be webstreamed live online at unhwildcats.tv.
