A native of Stanwood, Washington, Amundson was a four-year standout setter for the Buccaneers between 2003 and 2006 where she set six Christian Brothers single season and career volleyball records. As a senior, she broke the school's all-time career assist record wtih 5,506 and holds the record for career assists per game with a 11.26 average.
In addition, her 1,552 assists as a junior is a school single season record, breaking her old mark of 1,390 set as a freshman in 2003. Along with setting a record with 134 games played as a sophomore in 2004, she holds the CBU mark of 37 matches played in 2005.
A member of the National Honor Society, Amundson was the Stanwood High School valedictorian as a senior. She helped lead Stanwood to the state championship tournament during her freshman, junior and senior seasons. She was named All-Wesco second team as a senior.
Currently, Lauren's younger sister, Megan, is a member of the
Western Washington University volleyball team.
