Cross Country Opens Season at Assumption
August 30, 2004
The Bryant men?s and women?s cross country teams will open the 2004 season on Saturday, September 4 at the Assumption College Relays. Both teams finished seventh in the Northeast-10 Conference last season but return a veteran group looking to improve on last year?s standings. The women?s team will be led by senior standout Paula Klepadlo (Smithfield, R.I.) who won last year?s NCAA Northeast Regional and earned all-America honors with an 11th-place finish at the NCAA Championships. She?ll be joined by senior Holly Resendes (Warwick, R.I.) and sophomore Karen Tranquillo (Stratford, Conn.).
The Bryant men?s team will look to juniors Caleb Paul (Addison, Maine) and Jared Nelson (Cranston, R.I./Hendricken) to lead the way this fall. Nelson finished in the top-40 at last year?s NCAA Regional while Paul was 55th. Junior Steve Carr (Wolcott, Conn.) was the top Bulldog harrier to cross the line at last year?s regional?s, finishing 35th overall. The Bulldogs will host the annual Bryant Invitational on Saturday, October 2.
