SMITHFIELD, RI - The Stonehill College men's cross country team captured its second-straight Northeast-10 Conference Championship Sunday, holding off UMass Lowell by five points, 33-38.  The UMass Lowell women captured the women's title, claiming victory by just one point over Stonehill, 33-34.  Pictures from today's championship can be found at www.dspics.com

Lowell's Patrick Morasse took top honors on the men's side, finishing first overall in a time of 26 minutes, 38 seconds, just ahead of Bentley College's Ryan Agnew who crossed the line in 26:44.  Morasse was second overall in the past two conference championships, but turned in a solid performance on a rain-soaked course at Bryant University, to pick up his first conference individual title. 

Stonehill College's Khalid Abdi and David Metzger were third and fourth respectively with Abdi finishing in a time of 26:57 and Metzger clocking in at 27:00. 

On the women's side, UMass Lowell snapped Stonehill's run of five-straight conference championships by edging the Skyhawks by just a single point, 33-34.  Nicole Plante, second at last year's conference championships in Colchester, Vt., took top individual honors as the junior finished in a time of 19:10. 

Plante finished 28 seconds ahead of runner-up Caitlyn Clark of Assumption College's who finished in a time of 19:38.  Stonehill placed runners third, fourth, and fifth respectively with Kate Buckley crossing in third in a time of 19:42.  Erin Smith (19:48) took fourth and Dana DeIngenis was fifth in 20:06.
