Cross Country Teams Compete at Albany Invitational
The Bryant University men's and women's cross country teams took part in the University at Albany Cross Country Invitational. The men, competing in the 8K Championship race, finished 12th out of 22 teams competing while the women placed fourth.
Leading the way was senior Tom Casey who finished 29th with a time of 25 minutes, 51 seconds. Justin Getts (26:09) and John Mitton (26:19) were 50th and 57th respectively following by Drew Clark who crossed the line in 26:29.
"I was very happy with the men's performance today," said coach Stephanie Reilly. "They are ready for their NEC Championship appearance and peaking at the right time of the season."
The women, competing in the 5K Gold Race, finished fourth out of 14 teams competing as Kat Ragone was the first Bulldog to cross the line as she finished 18th overall in a time of 20:11. Casey Fenwich was next in 23rd (20:19) while Jennifer Denise took home 34th in 20:30.
"I was very pleased with the performances of the women today," added Reilly. "In the last two weeks, they have rounded into great shape at the perfect segment of the season and as we prepare for the NEC Championships a few weeks down the road."
Both teams will travel to the Central Connecticut Mini-Meet next weekend in New Britain, Connecticut before heading to the Northeast Conference Championships November 1 at West Long Branch, N.J.
