BULLDOGS HAVE STRONG SHOWING AT TED OWEN INVITE
NEW BRITAIN, CT - The Bryant Men's and Women's Cross Country teams had a strong showing at the Ted Owen Invite hosted by Central Connecticut over the weekend. The Bulldogs were led by senior Tom Casey who captured a 15th place finish out of a field of 97.
The men had a great day, edging out the Fairfield University team by one point to place 4th overall. Tom Casey placed 15th in a time of 27:03 to lead the men's team. Justin Getts had a good day as well, placing 32nd in a time of 27:43. Also placing top 50 were John Mitton (34th), Peter Jacques (37th), and Drew Clark (43rd).
"I was very pleased with the men's performance today," said coach Stephanie Reilly. "They beat out three Division I teams and all ran very strong. I expect them to continue to get stronger as the season progresses. Tom, our captain, is really rounding into great shape with each meet."
The women placed 7th overall for the day. Freshman Kat Ragone led the bulldogs with a 36th place finish in 19:44. Megan Cordi followed up close behind with a 54th place finish in a time of 20:42.
"The women ran a very solid race," added Reilly. "They are very young and gaining a ton of experience each race."
The Bulldogs will host the Bryant XC Invitational this coming Saturday.
